Witchbook

I made a simple sigil to ward against negative energies/spirits/etc. It’s worked before I’ve seen it. Anyway I put it on my front and back doors and so far so good but then my husband comes home wrapped up in negative, it slips past my ward and affects me within 5 minutes. Why didn’t it work? Is it because he didn’t see me put it up?
